November marches on…

I can’t believe we are nearly half way through the month already. Firstly a huge thank you to every one who came last Thursday night. The evening was a great success and we will be repeating it  before the end of the year.

Coming up on Thursday is the delayed Stamp a Sack. There is  one place left in this class so if you want to create 24 handmade cards please message me asap, details on the workshop page. Friday evening Our Creative Den is out and about at Wainstalls Ladies night followed by the Mytholmroyd lights switch on on Saturday.

Card and a cuppa next week on Tuesday morning followed by the regular afternoon class where we will be making seasonal cards. A week on Saturday –  the 25th is the Star Book class. The theme this year is the Nutcracker and many colleagues say this is the best one yet! I did love last years vintage style one, this one is in the traditional red and green and features the nutcracker, the sugar plum fairy and the rats! I have added a little mouse who appears on each page. I only have 2 places left for this class, check these pictures out.

The Den this week…….

The Den this week is probably the busiest it has ever been. Starting on Tuesday with card and a cuppa in The Secret Cafe. This week we are making two floral cards. Both have a thank you sentiment but this can be changed to happy birthday. In the afternoon we are creating a small bag with 3 small cards. All tree inspired.  On wednesday is the regular monthly class for more experienced  crafters. This week we will be developing 2 mini easels into little works of art! This class is earlier than usual running from 10.30 -1.00. Message me if you would like to come.

Then Thursday its market night. Plans are coming along well. Christmas trees are going up, the music has been organised and mice pies will be baked nearer the time. I still have a lot of making to do! But it will be a fun evening and a great time to get a bit of early shopping done at a dozen quality handmade stalls.

My special offer this week:- Book on the wreath making kit on Thursday evening and get a £5 discount.

Market Night

Our Creative Den craft studio is based on Tenterfields Business Park. All business units where originally  part of a large textile mill. The path/road between the studio and The Secret Cafe is cobbled. I have glass windows in the ceiling that face North and the whole site is built of stone. In its own way it is quite beautiful.

As the site is not  somewhere with much general footfall we have decided to have a market night to showcase what is in the park. To begin with the cafe is brilliant, great food on a daily basis and then twice a month they have a gourmet evenings. These are well worth a visit. The newest shop is Vintage Furniture, a lovely shop that I could spend a fortune in if I had a bigger house. With winter coming on its lovely to curl up on the sofa in front of a wood burning stove…… yes there is a specialist stove shop. Bet they could get you sorted in time for christmas. Sugar and spice have the unit next door to me, beautiful gifts, quirky gifts and some more daring items for that secret santa. The kitchen shop will also be open. The kitchens are built in Italy, very high quality, certainly worth checking out.

That is a taste of what is on offer. Thursday 9th November 4 – 8pm Join us for the very first market night at Tenterfields business park.

SPECIAL OFFER:- I am offering a £5 discount on the cost of the wreath class for anyone who books and pays on the night.

Card and a Cuppa

Yesterday was another card and a cuppa session in The Secret Cafe. I wanted to show you these as I think the cards are particularly lovely. Many of the ladies who come to card and a cuppa are new to rubber stamping. We take it one step at a time and I demonstrate new techniques as we go along. Everyone always goes home with cards they have made themselves and are happy to send to friends and relatives, although from what I hear many of them are so pleased with what they have made they don’t want to send them!

Winter Scenes

Tuesday class tomorrow is a bit of a change from the usual cards. Two of the ladies who will be there wanted to make something with a halloween theme. They particularly liked the witch boxes I had made for the Queensbury Makers Market. They will be making a witch, a spider and something else. However the other two ladies who are regulars didn’t fancy halloween so I have come up with something else with a box feel. I wanted to stick to winter but not too christmassy! One of these customers has really enjoyed the makes we have done in the past with the ‘Best Birds’ stamp set, but this doesn’t include a robin….. the ‘Cheery Chirps’ stamp set does! Out came the robin and off I went.  I also decided to get the penguin stamps out again and another little scene box happened.

If you would like to join us to make these two little boxes or the halloween ones then email or give me a ring, just so that I can prepare everything for you. The class is from 1.30 -3.30. Check out the workshop page for what is coming up next week.

Makers Fair

Tomorrow the Den is out and about in Black Dyke Mills, Queensbury. This is a makers market and there are over 20 stalls selling handmade goodies. A great time to start that christmas shopping, support a local small business and find something unique and unusual.

Next week it is busy in the Den. Monday is the first of the childrens holiday craft classes, leaves for a wreath or a hedgehog. Tuesday card and a cuppa in The Secret Cafe followed by the regular Tuesday afternoon class, next week its all about little boxes. Wednesday is the second childrens class creating a decorated clip board and Thursday for children again a little sticking followed by a little sewing, this would make a great ‘mother and daughter’ class. Finishing with Stamp a sack next Saturday. Make 24 cards, 4each of 6 designs. More about that later in the week.
